Biography

Mark Fry is an American contemporary painter, born in the western suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. He is the sibling of Virginia Fry, author and child bereavement pioneer and Mitch Fry, contemporary sculptor. His father is Collin L. Fry, a Michigan based painter.

Mark studied painting and printmaking at the Kansas City Art Institute under William McKim, a colleague of Thomas Hart Benton. Mark earned a B.F.A  degree from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, studying painting under Ted Halkin, Ray Yoshida, Karl Wirsum, Barbara Rossi and Michiko Itiatani. He studied film history under Stan Brakhage. Mark holds a M.F.A. degree from The School of Visual Arts, New York City.  Throughout the past 30 years he has had studios in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and Jersey City, NJ.

Mark currently resides in Phoenix, AZ.
